Son and Park's Beauty Water, a dupe for SK-II?

Wednesday, May 17, 2017

I've been meaning to share this review with you guys but I had to wait a bit longer just to be sure I am fully knowledgeable to what I'm gunna say.. A lot of you may have probably tried or heard the SK-II brand already, too expensive, yet effective.

More often than not, I read reviews about great alternatives a.k.a dupe for expensive products. We always love to know what's out there without breaking the bank, yeah I feel you.

My holy grail SK-II Facial Treatment Essence that I bought from Sephora for Php3,317--- is dying on me. Que Horror! I knew I could figure something out, I could find a replacement and at the same time save me some money for my future travels and current expenses.
Whilst browsing for dupes, I came across this.. SON & PARK's Beauty Water Php1,269. Currently being sold at ALTHEA PH.

The reviews were great, and the product itself looks promising.  I love the minimalist packaging, and the fact that it is huge.

They both have frosty bottle packaging, only the beauty water one is plastic. Fair enough considering that it is huge, and prone to breakage as it is quite heavy for 340ML.
Same dispenser, and same watery texture. Although I do have to point out that the Beauty Water is quite thick in texture compared to the extra fine essence of SK-II. Probably due to the fact that this Beauty Water is a smart toning product that can also remove makeup and products build up on your face.

I even read once that you could use this to wash your face during the long flight, thanks to its moisturizing ingredients such as lavender water, rose water, and orange fruit extract, and a total pH of 4.5 that can effectively reset the skin's natural pH level.

Too many claims, but is it really worth it?

Well, first off, for the price-- I would have to say that yes it is worth it. It didn't break me out or anything, but I don't think this beauty water is as good as my SK-II. Close maybe, but not quite.

WHY? Because I've tried using SK-II alone without having to use a moisturizer or anything. It's that good guys! All I have to do is put a wee bit on my palm and pat it all over my face, and sleep. Weirdly enough, it has a very pungent smell, ridiculous scent that would throw you off but eventually disappears within a few seconds. But my skin afterwards? it's super clear, well moisturized and plumped.

So all in all, I would have to say that this Beauty Water, though close enough as an affordable all in one dupe that moisturizes my skin, and can remove dirt and makeup. I have nothing bad to say with it, really. But the SK-II is extremely good and better. If I have to choose between the two, I would pick the Beauty Water if we're talking about practicality, but if I wanted to invest on my skin (since we only have one face, and I for one is getting older) then I would definitely pick me a new bottle of SK-II.

Therefore, I conclude that this not about a dupe battle. It's more of practicality and what's best for your skin, and how much you are willing to spend on your skin. Both are good for me, I can live with the using just a beauty water, but if I like an exgtra oomph, then I would have to go back to SK-II once I'm done with this beauty water.
